Gary Lineker is still a very actual person. Few in the World of Football remembers him today for his time as a player at Leicester. But when he left the club 40 years ago this summer, he could be described as GOAT.
The move taken to replace him when he joined Everton was far from fame. He ended as a flop at Leicester. Despite having a fantastic debut, funnily enough Mark Bright scored two in a 3- win vs. Everton at Filbert Street. Gary Lineker did not score on the day, on what was his Everton debut.
Gordon Banks was one of the greatest players ever to have played for Leicester. He moved on in 1967, joining Stoke. Peter Shilton a young player brought up at the club became his successor. Shilton also replaced Banks as the England number one, ending up playing 125 times for his country.
Frank Worthington was a legendary forward at Leicester. He left the club in 1977 to join Bolton. His replacement was Roger Davies. A transfer record signing at the time, coming in from Club Brugge. Roger Davies became a huge disappointment. He was a huge flop. Being played in a team in transition gave the former Derby league winner a troubled time at the club.

Emile Heskey was a record transfer sale when he joined Liverpool for fee of £11million. The player often seen as his successor and the man to take over was Ade Akinbiyi. Akinbiyi had a good reputation of scoring goals in lower tiers. His £5.5million move to Leicester, signed by Peter Taylor, made a laughable impression. Ade Akinbiyi must be described as the worst ever record transfer move done by this football club ever.
So the odds of getting the correct man in to replace Jamie Vardy will be difficult. Often it has been done with a signing of a new player. Looking back in history, the best move was Peter Shilton. If Leicester should go with that plan, Patson Daka will be the player to call. Alternatively, they could consider Jordan Ayew to replace JV9.
