Wolves 3, Leicester 0, positives and negatives, player ratings and match report, Premier League fixture

A Leicester team without Stephy Mavididi is one lacking creatitivity and penetration power. We had hoped for Kasey McAteer who provide something of the same. No McAteer, instead Facundo Bounanotte started the game.

We are far from understanding what Ruud van Nistelrooy is trying to do. His dispositions look very strange at times. Some players perform in a very unpredictable manner. The lowest level of this team is so far below Premier League standard you can get.

Leicester managed to hold Wolves on a distance during the first minutes of the game. They were under pressure. Mads Hermansen made a couple of misplaced passes. However, Wolves never managed to use them in their favour.

Leicester kept Wolves on distance for 33 minutes, but then it all fell apart. Matheus Cunha opened the scoring, giving Wolves a deserved 1-0 lead. He is a great asset for this Wolves team.

Ruud van Nistelrooy had to withdraw De Cordova-Reid early. The Jamaica international left the field close to half time with injury. Jordan Ayew was his replacement.

There were also three changes at half time. Two of them, Soumare and Pereira, was forced as they both had difficulties to continue. Bounenotte was the only one being subbed for tactical reasons. Justin, McAteer and Skipp came on. This made the balance in this Leicester team far from perfect.

To let Matheus Cunha go on his own is fatal. In the 56th minute, he found Jorgen Strand Larsen with a perfect pass. The Norwegian international scored with a nicely placed shot from close distance.

Jamie Vardy had his chance to get closer to that 200 goal tally, being lively and getting himself a penalty. This were minutes after the Wolves 2-0 goal in the second half. Always a question asked, should the one being tackled, taking the penalty? JV9 did, and missed.

We love to see a youngster from Leicester’s local academy getting minutes in the first team. However, Jeremy Monga is far from ready. He is not in any condition to function in a role in Premier League action. Players such as Patson Daka, Victor Kristiansen, and Caleb Okoli must be asking themselves questions. They see a player aged 15 getting match minutes in front of them. This is very questionable. What happened from the minute Jeremy Monga entered the field is something to forget. He had no influence in the latter minutes. His presence must raise heavy questions about the salaries and transfer fee’s used on other players in this squad. Monga is not ready for this schene, not yet. He can be, but still more than four years until he is 20. Any other usage must be very carefully planned. He is capable of making some nice touches, dribbles, and involvements. However, he is not yet in reach with other attributes needed at this level.

This was heavily seen when Wolves scored their 3-0 goal. Leicester players were outrun and overturned as Matheus Cunha found Rodrigo Gomes, with the latter putting the game to bed.

We had hoped that Ruud Van Nistelrooy would have seen some positives in this outing. However, it was a disgrace to watch. The fact that he had to withdraw Pereira and Soumare explains a lot. There are of course question to be asked when Caleb Okoli is not used. Playing Wout Faes and Conor Coady together at this point is a major mistake.

Leicester will be up against Southampton in their next game. Hopes are that this time we can again be back on winning ways.

Positives
- Again giving Monga minutes. However, his presence looks far from effective. The reason for playing him looks far from giving this team an extra dimension at this time.
- Great to see the power and pace from JV9 when he push for his penalty
Negatives
- The line up from start, strange to see McAteer and Okoli dropped
- Changes at half time, could have kept Bounanotte on the field, when you say two of the other changes were forced due to injuries
- Having no idea how to stop Matheus Cunha on the day
- Jamie Vardy missing his penalty
