Shocking and Surprising as Leicester Relations Are All Over The Wallpaper

Martin O’Neill is back in football management. He is taking over Celtic temporarily. This will be until a new permanent manager is found. Brendan Rodgers resigned last night. The two former Leicester managers, both with great success, leading the club to some fantastic and astonishing results.

Martin O’Neill was last in a manager role at Nottingham Forest, ending in June 2019. He has also been the manager of Ireland national team. He had spells at Aston Villa and Sunderland after his time at Celtic and Leicester.

There has been mixed emotions regarding the surprising departure of Brendan Rodgers. During the second stint as manager at Celtic, there have been difficulties. Many good players have walked out the door. They brought in heavy funds.

Since Brendan Rodgers returned to Celtic on the 19th of June 2023, he has again won trophies on demand. The Scottish Cup (2023/24) and The Scottish League Cup (2024/25) are in the trophy cabinet. He has also won two out of two possible League trophies. Celtic are dominant in Scotland. But you need a bit of control and knowledge to achieve this in the way Brendan Rodgers has done.

He has also qualified Celtic to two Champions League campaigns and this season competing in the Europa League. This is of course impressive results to have on your CV. Brendan Rodgers and Celtic co owner Dermot Desmond seem to have had difficulties. They have struggled to communicate and find a path for a future together. This resulting in the resignation of Brendan Rodgers.

It looks a bit strange to see a man walk so soon in the season. This happens while being second in the table. However, the start has not been as expected. Sunday’s 1-3 away defeat to Hearts is far from standard, seeing their top rival far above in points. Celtic on 17, Hearts on 25, makes a gap difficult to fill as teh chase will of course be on.

Funnily, Martin O’Neill said live on air. He believed Hearts were the favourites to win the league this season. They could climb out of the shadows of Celtic. They have a solid financial base. They are really looking to make the most out of their belief. They aim to be battling for the final Champions League places next season.

Martin O’Neill is in interim charge, alternively Ange Postecoglou is the main favourite for the permanent job. For the time being our own special MON will be the main man. He will have good assistance from Shaun Maloney, Mark “Fozzy” Fotheringham, Gavin Strachan, and Stevie Woods. They are all part of this interim coaching staff.
