Marti Cifuentes: No Understanding, Missing Out on Jeremy Monga’s Talent

We have earlier expressed our doubts about how Marti Cifuentes has approached the use of Jeremy Monga. Monga (16) is a jewell and talent Leicester should have utilized much more.

We earlier believed that a trio up front with Mavididi, Fatawu and Monga would be the ideal picture. All of them are pacy. They move in and out of positions well. They have the ability to score goals from every angle.

Jeremy Monga has also been in great form for England, in the games he have played at different youth levels. The only way to keep this major talent happy is to play him game in and game out. Do not try to protect him from himself. Instead, give him the chance he fully deserves.

At the minute he is out with an injury, but hopefully back soon. Why Marti Cifuentes is not playing his best player by miles, is a riddle of great concern. He must be either blind, or not understanding how you should nurse forward this special young talent.

In an interview late last season, Jeremy Monga told us he wants to start games. He also aims to secure a regular position in the first team. This has not been something either Ruud van Nistelrooy or Marti Cifuentes has made possible for him. He has been in and out and mostly on the fringe.

Some believe he lacks the defensive qualities needed to play in this team. Others say he is too young to be able to participate in all games. If he can not play every game, then reduce training session time, instead of playing time. Give the player more rest. But not by reducing minutes on the field for the first team.

A chance to join Tottenham, Man City, Real Madrid or another club, may arise in January. If that happens, Jeremy Monga might leave Leicester. He would then follow Trey Nyoni. Earlier, Calvin Bassey also are among players not really rated at this football club. Both left before they had established themselves as first teamers.

We wish Jeremy Monga all the best on his football journey. However, with the current treatment he receives, being either left out or given only subs minutes, it looks far from perfect. Not getting the feeling he will be a regular starter. This situation will eventually lead him to leave the club for nothing.

The contract Jeremy Monga has signed with Leicester will not secure a transfer fee at this stage. It mainly gave Leicester one year to keep him at the club. This allows them to prepare a full contract agreement later.

A move abroad to Borussia Dortmund would be the best for his development. He would soon find himself as a regular in Bundesliga. This club knows how to get the best out of young English talent. They have a completely different view on playing young players on a regular basis. Marti Cifuentes lacks the ability to recognize the young Leicester forward’s value. The way he has managed Jeremy Monga so far is completely disgraceful, providing him with too little game time.
