24 odd and not so odd facts about Jamie Vardy, the one and only

Today we got the news that Jamie Vardy would step down from England duty, but are not saying no, if Gareth Southgate has a problem and get a lot of injury worries. We have gathered 24 facts together, odd and not so odd. Jamie Vardy is and will for always be a story told about the player that came from nowhere and into the very top of English football and the last chapter in this incredible story was written during the 2018 World Cup in Russia, reaching the semi’s.

He has climbed the ladder together with Leicester City, being signed from Fleetwood Town and before that had spells at Halifax Town and Stocksbridge Park Steels.

There are a lot of facts about Jamie Vardy and we have picked 24 of them, some very odd others not so odd,

  1. Jamie Vardy won league titles at four different levels, in a period of five years,  Conference North (Halifax Town), Conference (Fleetwood Town), Championship and Premier League (Leicester City)
  2. Jamie Vardy played against both Manchester United and The United of Manchester FC in a league fixture, the only one to do so
  3. He scored against all top six clubs in the Premier League in one season, Tottenham, Arsenal, Man City, Man Utd, Liverpool and Chelsea
  4. Made his debut for England at the age of 28
  5. He has so far scored 83 goals in 206 league games for Leicester City
  6. He once played games for Stocksbridge with an electronic tag, and had to be pulled of after an hour, jumping a fence and run home, to keep his curfew. He had this tag for six months
  7. After scoring 31 goals in 36 games for Fleetwood Town, Leicester City manager at the time, Nigel Pearson, decided to pay £ 1 million for Vardy’s services, a record for a player signed from a non-league club
  8. Jamie Vardy won the FWA Footballer of the Year award in 2016
  9. Jamie Vardy won the LCSCSB Player of the Year award the 2017-18 season
  10. He scored his first goal for England at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin, Germany
  11. Jamie Vardy scored his first league goal in a win
  12. He made his Leicester City debut in August 2012 in a 4-0 away win in the EFL Cup v. Torquay, he also scored one of the goals
  13. Vardy has the record of scoring in consecutive Premier League games, 11 in total
  14. At Stocksbridge, Jamie’s weekly salary was £ 30, and he took up odd jobs to pay bills
  15. Released by Sheffield Wednesday at the age of 16, stamped “too small”

  19. Jamie and Rebecca Vardy are parents to two children, Sofia and Finlay, Rebecca also have two children, Megan and Taylor, from a previous relationship
