The news that Kelechi Iheanacho was to be the player of the month in March and well deserved for the player that has been seen as a misfit at Manchester City, sold to Leicester City four years ago, and still not played more than 87 league games and scored 15 goals, and 6 of them this season.Embed from Getty Images
It’s been difficult for Kelechi, seen as a lonely striker and with Jamie Vardy at the place, not really fancied in any other position than doing the top man job, and often not really been given a proper chance ot shine.
Brendan Rodgers has surprised every one a few times this season to just adjust his team when injuries have striked or not letting his best players just sit on the bench and not doing a system change to slot them in.Embed from Getty Images
Giving Kelechi a job together with Jamie Vardy up front has worked wonders lately and hopefully this could be a reason to keep faith in the Nigerian international that also is back in the national team, and it’s wonderful to see how well he has taken the situation, not playing an important part over a long period of time.
We are really happy to see that everything has worked out so well for the 24 year old forward as his struggles to be counted and valued by his manager and certain fans, vocally saying it straight out, he’s not good enough, and he might have a few doubters still that isn’t convinced, not even after 5 goals in 3 games in March.Embed from Getty Images
We are impressed by both Kelechi and also Brendan Rodgers as he has been bold and stubborn enough to see a possible pair of Jamie Vardy and Kelechi, which few might have thought of as a solution for a team that has also been fantastic in adapting to several systems, line-up’s and handling injury situations that looked impossible to cover.
He is still not by pundits believed to be a top Premier League striker and they continue to value forwards at The Liverpool’s, Arsenal’s, Tottenham’s, Chelsea’s and Man City’s being much better and higher valued.
We can only say one thing, well deserved, Kelechi Iheanacho.
