Often results for a reserve team can be a run of up’s and down’s as you are going through a season. Players that would be vital could see a possible loan move as a better option and then leave the club for a period and not be available. Often young players from the u.19 set up must be pushed up and of course are young and with too many teenaged players you will struggle no matter how much a talent they are.

To see the club invest in new faces and bringing in players just to bolster the u.23 set up is good, because securing top quality opponents week in and week out in the top competition in this country, will be vital for progress for the club long term, so in favor of that type of recruitment policy.

We have seen the club doing business and signing players from lower tier teams or bringing on players who are out of contract elsewhere, one is Vontae Daley-Campbell who joined from Arsenal and would rather see him get up and through the ranks instead of buying yet another fringe alternative. To see the latest addition of Bayli Spencer-Adams makes loads of sense. The 1.90m robust 20 year old central defender is a former academy player at both Arsenal and Tottenham and has also had spells at Watford and Colchester, before signing for Leicester after a trial that looks to have worked well. Spencer-Adams has no previous experience from play in EFL first team action, but to count is his eight appearances for Dover Athletic, spending a period on loan at the National League club last season. Not to forget the thrill of Spencer-Adams being a full international, making his debut for Guyana earlier this year and so far made two appearances.

To also see Filip Benkovic, Nampalys Mendy and Ali Reghba all being part of the squad with them being other experienced players, makes it possible to loan out the likes of Leshabela, Hirst, Iversen, Wright and Shade without being thrown totally to the wolves and have a chance to survive and continue as the squad do have a lot of teenagers.

Leicester are currently 9th in the Premier League 2, six games played, two wins, two draws and two defeats. A total of 14 teams are competing. We all hope that Leicester can continue to bring in good results as the wins against Leeds and Everton makes it possible to believe that a survival will be in reach and that the team can continue with more or less the same set-up next season with so many young players coming through, and also be able to give a number of players loan experiences in the EFL if possible.

The u.23’s are playing today v. Man City in a difficult away fixture and hopefully some type of positives will be taken out of the game, but we do see a struggle as the squad are up against a very difficult opponent. Man City are current leaders and will of course at home be very difficult to play. Leicester introduced Nampalys Mendy for the Leeds game and he had of course a massive impact, with him in the team it might be surprises on the way, but we just have to wait and see and as we all know Mendy is not able to play in PL and EL action as his loan move to Galatasaray fell through.

Filip Benkovic played in the team v. Everton, the other win this season. and of course with Mendy and Benkovic included you will have a much stronger side and hopefully getting more positive energy into the group. We have seen Braybrooke, Marsvanhise and Suengchittawon doing great when called on and they will continue to progress as we hopefully will see a team getting better and better during the season.

We have seen players such as Sam Hughes, Geoff Thomas, George Hirst being signed to bolster the u.23 set up and of course doing a vital job in keeping the team floating as they build on their experiences from first team football at Chester and Coventry before taking that step and of course a great chance to get into a PL set up.
