Leicester will go to Edgeley Park and play Stockport in their 2nd round Carabao Cup fixture. The game will be played 22nd of August. This is the first time since 09 that the two clubs play each other.

Two fixtures in League One, both draws, 1-1 at King Power and 0-0 at Edgeley Park. Leicester also plaayed Stockport in the The Carling Cup as it was called back then. Just four days before the two met on the 12th of August 08.

Leicester came out 1-0 winners in this league cup game. Steve Howard scored the goal, as Stockport goalkeeper Owain Fon Williams had to see defeat. Fon Williams has since his days at Edgeley Park moved on and last season being in goal for Dunfirmline Athletic and competed with Jakub Stolarczyk for the goalkeeper position. Fon Williams recently joined Fleetwood as their goalkeeper coach.

From that last League Cup game Leicester and Stockport had not met since 1925. Leicester came out winners 4-0 at Filbert Street.

In that last EFL Cup game Leicester had Joe Mattock in the team and he was this weekend an unused sub for Harrogate as they were defeated 1-0 by Stockport.

We do have players from the past being at both Stockport and Leicester as Leon McSweeney was on show for The Hatters in that League Cup game in 2009. He never played in a league first team game for Leicester but had a good career at several clubs making a step down in non-league and from there going back up to play EFL football again. He also had spells in EFL with Hartlepool, Leyton Orient, Carlisle and Northampton. Other players to mention are Tim Flowers, Damien Delaney, Kevin Ellison, Simon Grayson and George Armstrong.
