The introduction of Jeremy Monga and Jake Evans seems premature. Other young players from the development team and academy teams are also introduced too early.
We have a natural belief in youth and often rate them higher than what they should be. Leicester is taking a risky path. They bring in players they believe have future potential. However, what we have seen so far is far from providing any proof or substantial idea if this is totally correct.
If you have any idea on building a good group, you should not flirt with this type of ideas. The gap between the oldest and youngest player in this Leicester group of players are 23 years. Jamie Vardy 38, Jeremy Monga 15.
This is, of course, far from ideal. Ruud van Nistelrooy’s current actions can harm the club’s future. They may also negatively affect the young players. If you put young players on the field in battles, they are not prepared for, you can disturb their progress. This can heavily impact their development. They may have no idea how to handle these situations.
Leicester have players earning large amounts of money. You are starting to play other players in the first team, which will disturb everything. Jeremy Monga looks far from a finished article. He is not capable of handling a starting position in Premier League. So playing him for other reasons than him being prepared and ready for this action is brutal and evil.

Leicester were defeated by Southampton in their last U.21 outing. These so-called great prospects were on the field. They had some good movement and showed good ability. Despite this, they lost the game to a Southampton U.21 side. It is questionable why these players are considered ready and good enough to play in Premier League, who knows. To play them for other reasons than to get a good result, would be shameful.
Having spend a life working with youth players of different ages and levels. Some reached a pro level others continued playing in lower leagues. You start to wonder what has gone totally wrong at Leicester. It looks as if they have put the clubs interest in front of the development of young players. That is very questionable. Watching Jake Evans get just seconds on the field without touching the ball is not right. Not including him in the squad for the next game is a total misjudgment. He will be used as a tool of some kind. He will not really get a chance to establish himself in the environment he is introduced to.
Jordan Ayew and Bobby De Cordova-Reid are two attacking options with a long life in Premier League action. Odsonne Eduoard and Patson Daka are also mature players. They surpass Jeremy Monga and Jake Evans in attributes, physique, and quality. The players mentioned have probably not performed to their level of expectations. However, replacing them with Jeremy Monga and Jake Evans is totally out of order.
Then you have a coaching staff with lack of understanding. If Monga and Evans had been the quality you need to start Premier League games. At their age they should be in a starting eleven. They are not at that level. It seems more like a plan to give them a taste of first team experience. This is happening long before they are supposed to get one.
Leicester have during the years introduced some very young players. This approach has never really worked out over a long period of time. David Buchanan is one from the past, getting his debut at 16. He was soon replaced, experienced a lot of injury problems and never made it as a top flight footballer. So if the player is not ready and you are unsure, just wait and trust what you got.
Then it is always essential to understand what comes first in development of footballers, the individual.
Leicester are having their worst ever season in top flight football. This should be the first signal to stop throwing in young bodies. Introducing young talent into an underperforming team is a selfish act. It involves experimenting and placing players in a team not capable of competing. This can threaten their career.
Again, when introducing young players to a first team, they need a natural place in the squad. They should be integrated into the setup. Additionally, understanding their role is essential.
Jeremy Monga is a player who can be on the move in the summer. The club will of course keep him. His development curve is very good. If you know his quality at this age, you should not be afraid. Giving him more than 10 to 15 minutes on the field is necessary. Otherwise, let him play were he belongs at this time.
