In Both Camps; Wrexham

Wrexham are back at Championship level and will play Leicester next season. Lewis Brunt and Matty James are currently at the club and are important players for The Dragons.

In the past a number of players have crossed paths. One is Danny Ward. The goalkeeper started his career at Wrexham before moving to Liverpool.

Former Leicester midfielder Robbie Savage is born in Wrexham. The Wales international is manager of Macclesfield, who he lifted to promotion this season. Savage never played league football for Wrexham being picked by Man Utd at a young age.

Robert Alleyne spent time on loan at Wrexham, when on the books of Leicester. He played 10 league games and scored 2 goals for The Dragons back in 1987-88. Brian Carey was a long servant at Racecourse Ground. He first played for the club on loan from Man Utd back in 1991. He returned in 1996 playing until 2005, adding up a total of 304 league games scoring 16 goals. The Eire international played for Leicester from 1993 to 1996, adding up 58 league games, scoring one goal.

Mike Hooper was a goalkeeper who had a short loan spell at Leicester from Liverpool. He joined Liverpool from Wrexham in 1986 and became an understudy for Bruce Grobbelaar. He played 34 league games for Wrexham.

David Lowe who played at Leicester from 1992 to 1996, scoring 22 league goals in 94 outings. He later joined Wrexham, being there from 1999 to 2000, only 10 league games, scoring 1 goal.

Dixie McNeil was a cult hero at Wrexham. He joined the club from Hereford in 1977. He played 167 league games and scored 54 goals. The Dragons played in the 2nd tier at the time, having McNeil up front to score their goals. He was a youth player at Leicester, leaving the club in 1966, 19 years of age. He is born in Melton Mowbray and one that never got to the pitch for the first team at Leicester.

Leicester signed Kevin Russell from Wrexham. The forward became a cult hero at Leicester. He played at the club from 1989 to 1992, scoring 10 league goals in 43 matches. He had two spells at Wrexham. First, from 1987 to 1989. Then, later from 1995 to 2003. During this time, he played a total of 282 league games and scored 60 goals.

Ashley Ward had a short loan spell at Wrexham from 1990 to 1991, playing 4 games, scoring 2 goals. His time at Leicester was also short, playing just 10 league games the season after being shipped to Crewe Alexandria. Goalkeeper Gavin Ward also played for Wrexham, back in 2007 to 2008. 22 league games for The Dragons. He was a goalkeeper at Leicester from 1993 to 1995. He played 38 league games. Some of them were at Premier League level.

The nephew of Frank Worthington, Gary, played for Wrexham. He was at the club from 1989 to 1991, playing 72 league games, scoring 18 goals.
