Andy King is in charge of team affairs in this Leicester pre-season. He is the leading act doing talking and handling the press. Andrew Hughes is still very much part of the staff. He is described as a set piece coach at the club. But is around and also looking to having an assistant role. In the past, he has had the assistant manager role at places such as Norwich, Rotherham, and Sheffield United.

We hope both are prepared to stay on at Leicester. They should continue their work and not be shipped out if a new management group comes in. Andy King is a wild card to take the job permanently. His odds are dropping faster than lightening. This makes us all believe he is a candidate being judged, valued and monitored.

He has not ruled himself out either. He will be in charge of every first team matter until someone else comes in to take over. At this time we have no clue about who will be taking over the manager vacancy at the club. It has to be someone who is eager to develop. They should also focus more on long-term development rather than having an eye on just short-term goals.

More than 40 players appear to be in contention. This makes it obvious that players need to leave before anyone can be brought in. The major job for a new manager is to understand the level of young players. The recruitment to be made, so that you comprehend development on the correct terms.

We have seen a number of names being in this next Leicester manager guessing game. Sean Dyche and Chris Wilder are being talked up. Both are experienced men with a solid enough background to take this job. Being seen as old school Englishmen having their background from playing lower league football. Having a stubborn and very direct style both in expression and play.

Danny Rohl and Andy King are younger men with a path of different backgrounds. Andy King is a legendary figure at Leicester, a very special man, one that every fan can identify themselves with. His personality and ethics will see him ideal for this job, but lack of managerial experience talks against him. Danny Rohl has a very special background as well, being part of some impressive coaching staffs in the past. Bayern Munich and Germany national team are both teams he have worked with. Rohl has his background in coaching. He knows the business in and out. He looks like the best man to appoint.

There are whispers out there saying talks with Danny Rohl are going very well. They are also telling us that Sean Dyche does not fancy Leicester. Chris Wilder is praised by one outlet. Michael Carrick is mentioned by others.

There are different talk from different places, but so far nothing looks settled.

In the past, very few caretaker managers have been appointed permanently by this football club. One of the most legendary managers in Leicester history is Matt Gillies. He worked out fantastically. Rob Kelly and Craig Shakespeare are the two others, they had no luck long term. These are the only examples of interim or caretakers who were initially coaching and assisting. Gillies lasted more than ten years. Kelly and Shakespeare lasted a year or less. Therefore, going for an internal appointment has not often been the solution.

The fact that you need to understand how to balance out your squad. You need to have an eye short term and long term. It is crucial to understand everything regarding man management. That is a balancing act. You need to ensure that even positive results will not keep a player on the bench happy. Additionally, having a clever eye in spotting players who works or not is important.
