Leicester City’s Bright Future: Youth Development Update

News from LCFC on the academy yesterday demonstrates how this club has a strong will on youth development. This is something the club has been clever at with long tradition. A new group of young players are at the moment coming through. This generation is one special, possibly better than any other group of the past.

The club has given several from this lot a professional contract. It looks more and more in line with what this club should be. Hopefully, no manager in the future will come in and try to challenge this approach.

Leicester do have teams far down in the age rank. This season, as always, you can find updates at our site on the U18 and U21 teams. These teams have some special players coming through.

The U21 team have played three games in the Premier League 2. Wins vs. Derby (2-0) and Liverpool (4-2) and a draw vs. Reading (0-0). There are some very interesting games coming in the Premier League International Cup. The team will play against Juventus U21 on the 10th of September. The U21 are also competing in England National League Cup, playing Wealdstone on the 16th of September.

For the U18 the situation looks balanced. Two wins and a lost game in the league. One loss in the cup competition. The are competing in U18 Premier League and the U18 Premier League Cup. Their next two games in those two competitions are a home game in the league vs. Aston Villa on the 13th of September. They will face Liverpool in the cup on the 4th of October.
