The Leicester Women team must be said to have had a good start. Looking at the three results so far, you must say performances have improved from last season. There are some very interesting points to consider for that improvement to happen.
One special point and very important factor is the introduction of Emily van Edmond. The 32 year old midfielder joined from Birmingham and at 32 years of age she looks better than ever. She has a special background. It is very impressive. She has played 163 times for her country, Australia. She has scored 32 goals.
Her life in football has been very nomadic, starting out at Newcastle Jet. The same club Emile Heskey played for while in Australia. She has played for many clubs in England, Germany, and the USA. She started her career in 2008. Her list of honours are very impressive, being a league and cup winner in th different leagues.
Seeing this improvement so early on under new manager Rick Passmoor is encouraging. We believe it can be a step in the correct direction. It will hopefully move the team away from the bottom of the WSL.
The rule looks to be the same as it is with the mens team. Change is the way forward. They take one step back. The change of management is done almost instantly. Since Leicester came up to the highest level in 2021, two managers have left for off field reasons. Another two have left due to lack of results and too little improvement. This happened despite keeping the place in the WSL.
The rotation of players is very similar to the male department. Many players arrive and depart after each season. The shuffle in front of this one makes it challenging, but still it looks as if Passmoor have a good momentum so far. A narrow 0-1 defeat to Chelsea in the latest outing. A very positive 1-0 win in the previous one at home to Liverpool. The opening game of the season ended in a 0-4 defeat away to Man Utd.

We will certainly be looking forward to more games. They will come up as this new group shapes up and becomes better bonded. The quality in this group is a good mix between youth and experience, homegrown and foreign.
Next up is a cup game away to Ipswich on the 24th and at home in the league vs. Spurs on the 29th of September. We do believe this will be a season of some more surprises of positives as Leicester hopefully will be closer to teams that were far above last season.
