Today Leicester confirmed the departure of club CEO Susan Whelan. She will step down as Khun Top is said to be taken charge until a new person is found. Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett believe a new CEO will be appointed soon. For now, the chairman and Jon Rudkin will take charge of the football club.
This came as no major surprise for those following the club to the closest. Susan Whelan has been discussed as a challenge. The club is not moving forward at the moment. A new direction must be set.
Rob Dorsett continued in his report saying there had been issues between her and DOF Jon Rudkin. They accordingly could not see eye to eye. This is a problem with such positions. They need to communicate to get the train moving in the correct direction.
Leicester’s problems started during the pandemic. King Power faced disruptions to their major growth plans. In a way, the plans were thrown in the bin. These challenging times hit that type of business harder than others. The club’s advancement heavily depended on ownership support. They needed to get their plans on board. Their goal was to establish an even stronger football team.
The signing of Ayoze Perez truly emphasized this strategy. He stated that he believed Leicester was a better place for him. He felt this was better than continuing to play for Newcastle. Today, that would have been a tall order. It is not something people would believe was true. However, at that time, it was a truthful statement.
The decision for Susan Whelan to step down has been a mutual one.

Khun Top to take a more active role in running the club.
There appears to be no further plans for changes of #LCFC's leadership.

Since the fall of this football club it was evident something had to happen. Khun Top and Jon Rudkin share close bonds. Naturally, this would suggest Susan Whelan as the one to leave. She does not have a sporting background. This can, in some way, work against you when you need to stand more on your own. She had the closest bonds to Khun Vichai.
Rob Tanner was back exclusively making an article for The Athletic on the matter. His insight and thorough knowledge on Leicester is well known. The former Leicester Mercury journalist and media anchor was clear in his talk. He did not suggest that more changes will be happening for the time being.
This will be interesting to learn more about. A new CEO is expected to play an important role. The one appointed will most certainly pave the path for this football club going forward.
Susan Whelan will be heavily remembered for her time at this football club. She was there when it was at the top of the pops. She was also in the area when it was falling down. The possible PSR penalties are on the horizon. They would, of course, cast dark shadows on her life as a CEO at the club.
We wish Susan Whelan all the best on her future journey away from Leicester City.
