Yesterday Leicester City chairman Khun Top made a live special appearance. This interview was with club media journalist Dan Bates. Of course, all questions were well arranged and far from controversial. They were addressed more or less directly to the fans of the football club.
We are currently in the middle of an international break. With the interview yesterday this has taken the man in charge of the most important, out of the fire line. Marti Cifuentes and his situation out of the spotlight for a few minutes. Meanwhile, the club as a whole becomes the hottest topic.
The latest group of managers, Steve Cooper, Ruud van Nistelrooy, and Marti Cifuentes, are all struggling. They are finding it difficult in their positions as Leicester managers. This is clear and simply down to two things. The current players do not sufficiently match the manager’s ideas. They do not fit in well with the pattern and system these managers base their football on.
Leicester do have a group of talented youngsters. However, they are too young to contribute on a regular basis. They cannot deliver what is needed against opposition more physical and equipped for life at this level. To nurse forward talent takes time. Harvey Barnes, Ben Chilwell and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall are all great examples of what it takes. During that process, results and consistency are heavily challenged.
We have seen fans talking up players such as Sammy Braybrooke, Will Alves and Ben Nelson. But to date they have not managed to convince anyone they are first team material at this football club. They all still look very much as future material. They are still described as just talented and in no way established at first team level at Leicester.

Ruud van Nistelrooy and Steve Cooper were let down by the same players. Marti Cifuentes struggles with the same situation at the moment. All three have a good reputation and track record from other clubs. Steve Cooper showing his worth at Brondby at the moment.
Brendan Rodgers must be blaimed heavily for the demiss we see at the moment, not Jon Rudkin or Khun Top. Rodgers showed he had no respect for money, planting players on gardening leave, all on heavy wages. The former manager put heavy pressure on the establishment. Rodgers really took the club with him down the path of destruction. He could not identify what he needed, in a frame the club could afford.
What we can blame the board and club establishment for is the goal set for Brendan Rodgers. Setting the achievement of Champions League football as a season-to-season goal is ambitious. This club seems far from being able to achieve that. The financial limits make it a long-term fantasy.
The chairman did back Brendan Rodgers as much as he could. The departure of players such as Youri Tielemans, Caglar Soyuncu, Ayose Perez and Danny Ward was not beneficial. They left without the club receiving a fee.
Enzo Maresca also throw the current ownership under the buss and jumped for his chance to join Chelsea. That was a good move for the Italian. However, it made it difficult for Leicester to build something on what was left.
We believe the current group of players should be good enough to fight for promotion. However, there are certain gaps and special quality lacking in this group. Filling those gaps with the correct players can be difficult.
Steve Cooper must be blamed for adding too many mediocre players. A more pressing question is who would join Leicester at that time. The club faced many different challenges regarding their financial situation.
Ruud van Nistelrooy had a squad full of players not movable at the time. Marti Cifuentes have sold for millions but still not used a single penny on quality additions. Then to attract Aaron Ramsey and Jordan James must be seen as a major positive.
Filling a squad with more than 25 players is an act of a mad man. It is not advisable.
Certian fans are naive when they talk about football players, looking at them as chess pieces.
The risk taking at Leicester has been huge throughout the seasons they were a top team in the Premier League. Their recruitment relied heavily on Brendan Rodgers’ intentions. He planned to build a Champions League outfit. That was in real his task. He came very close.
