The season is over in Scandinavian countries. Norwegian Eliteserien, Swedish Allsvenskan and Danish Superliga are the three top leagues. What we seen over the last four or five years is fantastic. The recruitment and working methods are impressive and the progress is huge.

Leicester have done business in Scandinavia before. Daniel Amartey and Victor Kristiansen both joined from FC Copenhagen. Goalkeeper Daniel Iversen was recruited from Esbjerg. Other Scandinavian players have in the past done well, suchs as Kasper Schmeichel and Jannik Vestergaard. They were both signed from English clubs.

Aune Heggebo is a recent signing from Eliteserien in Norway. He joined West Bromwich from Brann Bergen before this season. So far, he has been in good form for The Baggies. We also introduced Felix Horn-Myhre. He was on the brink of joining Bodo Glimt in the summer, but no agreement reached.

Ipswich signed Sindre Walle Egeli before the season. Egeli (19) is a special talent who could be on the plane to the World Cup next summer. Players who grow up in the different Scandinavian top clubs academies currently enjoy a fantastic environment. They have a great setting to develop in.

We have seen Leicester manager Marti Cifuentes struggles. However, showing him the door would be a very foolish act. He knows the market in Scandinavia in and out. Being at Aalborg, Hammarby and Sandefjord has given him valuable insight and special connections in this market.

He also have an eye for talent. The recruitment of Jordan James and Aaron Ramsey shows Marti knows his game. This business alone should give Marti Cifuentes time. Certain Leicester fans are early on their triggers and are shooting elephants, especially if they see them inside a room.

We do see some solid patterns, a bit on and off. But still there are a long path to the final set up. Injuries, great amount of games. Instability and players on outgoing contracts with wages far above what they are producing. These are faults and challenges at present. If you understand football and navigating difficult times, you will just leave Marti Cifuentes alone.

A player mentioned in the summer window was Djurgaarden midfielder, Matias Siltanen. To be able to spot the correct player at this age will be vital for Leicester. Siltanen (18) has not yet made his full international debut for Finland, but doing well at U.21 level. You need a clever eye if you are to recruit youngsters from other countries and league’s. If you fail, you have ruined your reputation and also potentially set your new signing in decline.

Another player that has shown his strength in Norwegian Eliteserien this season is Daniel Karlsbakk. He finished top scorer in Eliteserien, 18 goals. His club Sarpsborg also reached the final of the cup. A tall player with good pace and eye for a goal. The 22 year played 35 league games for Heerenveen, before moving to Sarpsborg in front of this season. He earlier played for Bryne from 2019 to 2021. Moved to Viking, and then in 2023, making his move to Dutch football. This is a raw talent, a player in the making, one to watch.

The list of talent is extensive. However, we believe we have identified the players who are realistic targets and most exciting.
