As reported earlier today we had a feeling this would happen. It took a few hours before everything was officially confirmed. Marti Cifuentes lasted six months, in this difficult and challenging position. Andy King will take interim charge. The idea of giving Andy King this responsibility was a no brainer.

As said in the earlier report today, no one really believed Marti Cifuentes would survive with such a bad result against Oxford at home, down there fighting relegation. To also have the chairman present at the game for the first time in two months, being able to witness the shambles in the flesh, made it even worse.

With only two wins in the last eight games, you are of course under pressure. Leicester are still just six points from a play-off position, with 17 games left of the season. Leicester are also into the 4th round of the FA Cup, so still a lot to play for.

Andy King was in temporary charge before Marti Cifuentes arrived and will take on the responsibility this time in an interim capacity. He will possibly be assisted by Andrew Hughes. They are the two left from the previous coaching staff established under Ruud van Nistelrooy. We have no information about what will happen to goalkeeper coach Javier Ortiz and assistant manager Xavi Calm.

We believe there will be no immediate timeline on a new manager appointment. Hopefully getting the PSR situation settled once and for all, and not start any talk with anyone with that disturbance being part of the process.

Having watched from close range how much Marti Cifuentes put into his work at his former club Sandefjord Fotball, knowing how committed he is to his work and how professional he is in everything he does, we still had doubts about this appointment. He never managed to influence any decision or desire from certain players to change their mind. James Justin and Bilal El Khannouss was in his starting line-up early on, but the two proven players, both left to join clubs at a higher level.

We do feel for Marti in this situation, but he never managed to get a momentum, with rotation, injuries and also inhariting a toxic fanbase all believing they are not were they should be. We wish Marti Cifuentes all the best on his future coaching journey. Leicester was a beast not easily thamed, they are a handfull and more at the moment.

Not only do the club have a new manager to find, but transfer business to complete before the winter window deadline on Monday, February 2. As said earlier, it might be a loan deal or two that can happen. To follow it all up never miss out on our hot, cool and cold rumours update.

Will be interesting to see what Andy King will bring to the table when he takes charge for his first test at home to Charlton on Saturday the 31st of January.
