Leicester U.23 0, Everton U.23 0, positives and negatives, player ratings and match report

Leicester City came away with a point in their Premier League 2 opener this evening. A well composed Everton team were impressively hold to a draw, and with Leicester City being down to 10 men for the last 20 minutes this must be seen as a heroic act.

Leicester didn’t create too much with a new composed team including new siging Mitch Clark, young starlet Callum Wright and The Irish new man Ali Reghba up front. Geoff Thomas also played, spending last season on loan at Scunthorpe United.

As expected Everton were the stronger team and they created a number of chances in the first half, but a goalkeeper in the making Victor Johansson had a splended game and showed some great skills during those 90 minutes.

A number of good saves and especially in the minutes after Darnell Johnson was sent off, he made some very vital saves that kept Leicester City in the game.

Sean St. Ledger who was the the expert of the night, made no secret about his admiration of goalkeeper Johansson who had a great game, but also in midfield TCF believed “Leicester Lad” Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall looks sharper and sharper.

You could describe the whole scenario as a “pink performance” as TCF for the first time watched Leicester City in a pink outfit, using the new kit and it might have scared off some opponents but surely not Everton.

Everton coach David Unsworth must be the less satisfied as Steve Beaglehole must be more than happy with the team and really Darnell Johnson did everything correctly as his foul stopped Everton from going 1-0 up.
