Will Brendan Rodgers copy Claudio Ranieri in the January transfer window and create a new fairy story

To see Brendan Rodgers commit his future to Leicester City by signing a new contract is of course delightful news. This could be the injection needed to create another fairy story at Leicester City, and indeed being able to tie down a position that will give Champions League football would be such a description.

With Liverpool now cruising forward at the top just not giving away anything might not be that important as the Reds looks likely to get their hands on that PL trophy for the first time in the clubs history. But to see Leicester City just carrying on and steady and quietly reaching that CL spot come May is to be seen as yet another fairy story.

So what would Brendan Rodgers do in the January transfer window to be certain to get that result and carrying on in style. A bit of change might happen as we did see back in 2015/16. Andrei Kramaric and Yohan Benalouane were both given the chance to go out on loan to Hoffenheim (AK) and Fiorentina (YB). Demarai Gray and Daniel Amartey arrived and both are still at Leicester City today.

Gray played a part in the games after his arrival with Amartey not really being much involved but both seen as players for the future. So how will Brendan Rodgers go about with his dealings in January.

TCF believe that not more than two maybe three players could be let a chance to leave either on loan or permanent. Daniel Amartey might be one of the players that could see his days at Leicester City numbered, another rumour is that Dennis Praet could be given a chance to join another club on loan. We don’t believe Rodgers would let players such as Wes Morgan and James Justin leave, TCF believe that would not happen.

If you look at the rumours and the players linked with Leicester City, rumours about other PL players seldom appear as the moves looks more “secretly” and often appears without the press getting a sniff of it.

Rumours are at this moment very vague and they are nothing to put anything into, and very little looks to be happening. TCF would like to see a quality defender added to the squad and the name Kristoffer Ajer is of course one to consider. The Norwegian fits the bill as he is a “converted midfielder” and could nicely be slotted in besides Caglar Coyuncu and has a previous life playing alongside Filip Benkovic last season at Celtic.

Kelechi Iheanacho’s awaking against Everton showed that he is one to count on and looks unlikely to be shipped out. It could possible to gamble on loaning out Dennis Praet and add James Rodriguez from Real Madrid.

Brendan Rodgers could easily just let everything be as it is, with few clubs eager to make big changes during the January transfer window, but we have seen major names in the game moving between clubs in this period, so we can’t rule it out completely.
