Leicester City again linked with major move for impressive midfielder, Arsenal could reconsider with Everton and West Ham also in chase

A shocking result at Stamford Bridge, seeing West Bromwich winning 5-2 against all odds, and despite being one player more in almost and hour, still winning with this impressive tally makes it a bit of a surprise.

In the middle of the field was Ainsley Maitland-Niles (23) showing his skills against some proper opposition and the England international with five England caps to his name, had a game to be proud of, really impressive in his movement and hard battling in a four men midfield.

Leicester were close to get him in January but with more chances to play in every game he chose West Bromwich and to be honest it will be a number of situations to settle for Brendan Rodgers as his team is a bit in a limbo at the moment, not really finding his preferred system and certain structure.

It works well one game, in the next it looks as a problem, with the Man City game showing that the team lacked a number of skills to get one over Man City, resting a player like Ricardo Pereira, not being certain of James Maddison, placing him on the bench. With James Justin and Harvey Barnes not likely to return for games this season and with Caglar Soyuncu contracting corona, it might also be doubts about him in the near future.

Everton and West Ham would of course be in a chase to get Naitland-Niles and he would be in competition with Ndidi, Tielemans, Mendy and Praet for a starting place in the midfield area, seeing a move for Hamza Choudhury likely in the summer as he seeks more regular first team chances.

With two young “unproven” players and of course highly talented, Dewsbury-Hall and Sowah in the wings, they could, if signing Maitland-Niles, it looks like a good option for Brendan Rodgers, having five midfielders to chose from in what could be a busy season, also looking likely to be involved in European action.

Reports are that Arsenal could see the use of Maitland-Niles as his contribution at West Bromwich is impressive and his action towards the end of the season will be vital for what the future brings for a player that looked certain to play in an Arsenal set-up.
