Leicester is believed to have found the replacement for Lee Congerton as senior head of recruitment. Martyn Glover, currently in this position at Southampton looks to be the man to be appointed.
Glover has a good and impressive CV with previous work at Sunderland, Everton, Leeds and West Ham among his occupations over time .
He has been with Southampton since 2019 and since then been involved in key deals one of them being Che Adams, the son of Leicester, who has gone from one strength to next under his time at St. Mary’s also adding his name to the list of English born players appearing for Scotland.
Leicester did a bit of business with Southampton last summer adding Jannik Vestergaard and Ryan Bertrand to the squad. Glover was with Everton (2016-2019) as chief scoat during the days of former Leicester assistant, Steve Walsh as he recruited the man to the role as head scout. They had their eyes on talent such as Erling Braut-Haaland, Harry Maguire and Andy Robertson, but the fees to pay for the Molde forward and Hull duo was rejected by people at a higher level.
We would of course like to see this appointment done prior to opening of the upcoming transfer window and hopefully it could be happening as the way forward short term is crucial for the club.
We believe that Martyn Glover would give the best advice to Brendan Rodgers on transfer affairs will be of great importance this summer.
Leicester could also, if James Ward-Prowse is eager to move on, join the battle for his signature and Martyn Glover does have inside information about his current situation and convince him to join a club that has a possible gap to fill instead of being a squad rotation number at Old Trafford.
The realistic fee to get for James Ward-Prowse is in the region of £30million, but said to be too low to satisfy the seller and a possible chance of Hamza Choudhury or Patson Daka going in the opposite direction could see the deal going through. We cannot see Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard or Marcus Rashford or any other of the stars of Man Utd being interested in a swop deal to join Saints.
We certainly hope Martyn Glover will join as his connections to Steve Walsh and previous work could see an interesting transfer window coming up.
