Danny Ward is not rated among the top goalkeepers in Premier League, while Brendan Rodgers has dismissed every chance to play Daniel Iversen as a regular first choice, and in real none of them can at this time compete with Kasper Schmeichel in quality and experience.
We have seen a number of candidates being linked with a move, but nothing happened in the summer and no action either during the January transfer window. We do believe that Danny Ward looks a strange choice long term.
Looking back in history and making a short analysis, we all know that when Leicester chased the major trophies and reached the top finals thay had players such as Gordon Banks, Peter Shilton, Tim Flowers, Kasey Keller and Kasper Schmeichel in goal.
Gordon Banks and Peter Shilton were rated among the best in the World, Tim Flowers and Kasey Keller were both top international goalkeepers and really showed power as they leaded the line from the back.
We have seen Danny Ward struggle this season and in all fearness he looks a bit sharper, but all in all not and will never be a top class goalkeeper of a standard needed to bring 12 to 15 points to the table with heroic saves that we have seen from the other top goalkeepers being there when trophies and great league positions has been collected.
Leicester will need to search the market for a new face with no signal of giving Daniel Iversen a major chance to establish himself, probably also on a shelf below the standard needed to see Leicester as a major contender for trophies going forward.
We have drawn up a list of goalkeepers seen as either linked or ideal if Leicester again are hoping for major moments to look for. Funny enough Ward in goal do not look as the ideal match, remembering Gavin being signed for the first season in the Premier League to replace Kevin Poole, but Gavin made just 21 league appearances before he moved on to other adventures.
