Huddersfield 2 (3), Leicester 2 (2), positives and negatives, player ratings and match report, Carabao Cup fixture

Marti Cifuentes had made a few changes, but surprisingly not as many as expected. He gave starts to Monga, Daka, Choudhury, Alves, Faes, McAteer and Nelson. Keeping Stolarczyk, Thomas, Skipp and Soumare from the starting line-up vs. Sheffield Wednesday.

According to the early reports and talk Jeremy Monga was on his front foot and positive. But the rest of the team not really in focus from start. Again a slow moving team from start, just like the experience from the Sheffield Wednesday game.

The first half ebbed away as no teams managed to get the ball in the net. Leicester manager Marti Cifuentes decided to make a change at half time, bringing on Louis Page for Will Alves.

Leicester had found a route to get the first goal. A great strike from Hamza Choudhury after 54 minutes made it 1-0 to Leicester. Then a few minutes later Hamza is involved again, but this time in the negative direction making a penalty. Stolarczyk saves but is not able to save the rebound. Huddersfield are level, 1-1.

Harry Winks replaces Oliver Skipp after 60 minutes. He strikes with a silky shot from distance. A great goal from the midfielder, who looks to be the saviour also this time. But instead of more Leicester goals, Ashia makes a well-placed shot in the 76th minute. The result is leveled again, 2-2.

Marti Cifuentes makes more changes putting on more power with Bilal El Khannouss and Jordan Ayew entering the field in the 83rd minute. Stephy Mavididi had also come in, he had been on the field from the 60th minute.

Leicester had the pressure and possession (60%). Yet, players often hailed as good enough do not perform when getting the chance. This game tells a very different story. The young players are far from having the ability to turn a game to their advantage or kill it. Alves and Monga are just two examples, Nelson is another player that fast must step up.

The game ends up in penalties. Huddersfield being best on the day, seeing Bilal El Khannouss, Jordan Ayew and Kasey McAteer all shooting terrible penalties, not at all on a level we would expect from full international players. Leicester are out of the Carabao Cup, almost before it started.

Valuable game time for fringe players is wasted. They are thrown out the window against a Huddersfield team not at their best line-up. Terrible to watch and again a knock in the face, showing that this squad is still far from being the strong unit we like to believe is in place.

Positives
- Scoring two fantastic goals, credit to Hamza Choudhury and Harry Winks
- Cifuentes trying out new players, not rewarded for his bravery
- Giving a debut to Louis Page, nice to see
Negatives
- Hamza Choudhury again too eager to make a tackle and missing it. Instead a penalty to the opponent
- Playing a team not able to kill the game, getting a result early on against an opposition from a league below
- Terrible penalties from certain players
