Riyad Mahrez is out of the World Cup. A 0-2 defeat for Algeria vs. Switzerland made the adventure stop at the first knock out stage. Mahrez (35) will possibly have played in his last World Cup. He is contracted to Al-Ahli out next season, what he will do after next season is unknown.

Andrej Kramaric came on as a late second half sub when Croatia were defeated 1-2 vs. Portugal. In the late minutes of stoppage time, they thought they had scored, but the goal was correctly disallowed as the offside was clear.

England and Belgium are through to the last 16. Youri Tielemans and Harry Kane were both influencial for their countries, both scoring twice to secure their wins as they continue their run in this World Cup. Timothy Castagne also in the Belgian side in this great win vs. Senegal.

Ghana with Abdul Fatawu and Jordan Ayew in their squad will play Columbia in their game, coming up in tomorrow morning, European time. Ayew captaining the side, Fatawu being a player, mostly coming on, but still important in this open affair, who could see the Leicester related players fighitng on in the tournament

Harry Souttar will be captaining Australia tonight in the Socceroos exciting match vs. Egypt. Again an open affair, both teams having special strenghts as well as difficult positions in their line-up. Souttar has been brilliant so far, as we are looking forward to the match tonight.

N’Golo Kantè was again an unused sub, when France easily defeated Sweden in their first knock out game. A quality 3-0 win for “Le bleu”. Viktor Johansson in the squad, but not playing for Sweden this time. Strangely overlooked by Harry Souttar who used two other goalkeepers in the tournament.
