Leicester and Tranmere are playing each other in the Carabao Cup 2nd round this afternoon at Prenton Park. Over the years a number for players have been in both camps.
David Kelly, scoring against Leicester in the 2000 EFL Cup final at Wembley, did also play for Leicester. The Ireland international scored 22 goals in 66 league games for Leicester, as well as 21 in 88 while on the books at Tranmere.
Frank Worthington was also at both clubs, being the player manager at Prenton Park from 1985 to 1987, with an impressive tally of 21 goals in 59 league games. Alex Bruce spent time on loan at Tranmere in 2005, he later joined Leicester, also on loan, 5 years later.
Former Leicester manager Bryan Hamilton played for Tranmere from 1980 to 1985, also being their manager, two years later being appointed the manager of Leicester. Micky Adams was in charge at Prenton Park from 2014 to 2015.
Iain Hume was a signing from Tranmere to Leicester, being their record buy for Craig Levein, paying £750.000 for the Canada full international. Hume spent his first five years in league football at Tranmere, then three years at Leicester before moving ot Barnsley.
Tony Knapp is another player with a life in both camps, as the defender played for Tranmere for 1969 to 1971. He later joined Poole Town as their player manager, later a famous coach in Scandinavian countries.
Defender Luke O’Neill spent time on loan at Prenton Park during his days at Leicester. Nicky Summerbee also had spells at both clubs. Goalkeeper Gavin Ward is another being at Leicester and Tranmere.
