Reports goes forward and back in relation to Youri Tielemans and his supposed move away from Leicester as his contract moves towards a close end next season.
Arsenal were said to be front runners and ready to act as the fee had been reduced to £25million. But instead news hit that Fabio Vieira had a agreed a move to The Emirates.
Early on and during May reports about Spurs and Real Madrid also appeared as possible destinations for Youri Tielemans. Newcastle were said to have an interest as well, but by reading reports from different sources you got the belief that Arsenal would be the preferred choice for everyone.
Last summer James Maddison was surprisingly also missing out on a transfer to Arsenal as we have seen earlier happened with both Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy. So nothing to report on the transfer front between the two clubs since 1987 when Alan Smith made his move between the two camps.
We have seen reports earlier falling flat as top quality sources are talking from some kind of belief they do have the answer. At present you see them going head to head in their predictions of player moves. Fabrizio Romano has not confirmed a move but still believe the two clubs will find a way with Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett predicting the opposite.
From a Leicester fan perspective it looks a bit surprising to see another short term deal being on the table as Brendan Rodgers believed it was difficult to negotiate, but this can have changed, as we do not have the full picture.
Difficult to say where this is heading but as we reported earlier, a transfer fee of £25million is a major dissappointment for Leicester as they hoped for more. No bids said to be tabled yet and with that in mind and Arsenal looking at more important issues a new approach from Leicester might have been lifted. Arsenal do need to focus on other areas of the field trying to get the moves for Gabriel Jesus (Man City) and Raphina (Leeds) over the line.
The news from Sky Sports must be taken seriously but still why such a major source for reliable updates are so on another course than Fabrizio Romano who is also seen as one being trusted, is a massive riddle.
TCF can see some sense in the idea of trying to get a year extension to Youri Tieleman’s contract with a number of experienced players also having their contracts coming to an end next summer. To probably see three or four of your best players leaving the club for free on the same time could be a disaster. Kasper Schmeichel, Jamie Vardy and Jonny Evans are other players who are coming to an end of their deals next summer.
Jonny Evans is a player who can be close to retirement if he picks up another serious injury. Jamie Vardy is involved in his MLS project and Kasper Schmeichel might be eager to make a move to another top European club and be involved in Champions League football.
